Potatoes

Short of burning them, it’s practically impossible to grill potatoes wrong. From French fries to kabobs, baked potatoes to chips, this is one vegetable that can really take the heat. Here’s a small collection of our favorite tools for spiffing up spuds.

Tin Foil

Using a square of tin foil to make a steamer packet is one of the tastiest ways to cook and season your potatoes. The Garlic Rosemary Steamer Packet Potatoes are a surefire hit; the sealed foil traps steam and heat so that the flavors permeate every slice.

Side Burner

The side burner on the Kenmore  4-Burner Stainless Steel Gas Grill would be perfect for melting butter, cooking sauces, or sautéing some veggies while your baked potatoes are getting grilled. Or, for faster French fries, use the side burner to boil your potato slices before popping them on the grill. You could even caramelize some garlic for Chef George Hirsch’s mouth-watering Grilled-N-Stuffed Potatoes.

Grilling Basket

A grilling basket ensures that your potato slices won’t fall through the cracks. When you’re cooking something as delicious as sweet potatoes to go with a little steak and salsa verde, a grilling basket is a must.

Top Rack

If your potatoes are going to be a side for some high-heat food like steak, cook them on the grill’s upper rack while keeping an eye on the entrée. Meats tend to cook faster than potatoes so don’t be afraid to put ‘em on early and take ‘em off late.

Potato Rack

If you love cooking baked potatoes on your grill but really can stand to wait, consider purchasing a Potato Grill Rack. The metal spikes pierce into the middle the potatoes, drawing more heat into the center and shortening overall cook time.
